To
understand the disease resistance mechanisms active towards
Phytophthora species, an Arabidopsis - Phytophthora brassicae
pathosystem was established in our lab.
Genetic evidence suggests that the
resistance against P.brassicae is based on salicylate-, ethylene- or
jasmonic acid- independent signaling paythway (Plant Journal 28, 293,
2001).
In the compatible interaction, the pathogen
invade the host plant.
The mycelium grows in the cells and complete collapse of the leaves is
visible after a couple of days.
The plant can not trigger defence reactions.
